May 19th - South Arm Community Centre: A walking field trip for fun with drama! Remember to be on time as we leave at 8:45am sharp! Dress for the weather and plan to bring water and a snack to have while we're away from school.
May 25th - Track and Field: Permission forms are being sent home Thursday, May 18th. Students will be told their events shortly after (either Friday, May 19th or Tuesday, May 23rd). A reminder that parents must arrange for their child's transportation home (there will be no transportation back to the school provided).
June 21st - Playland: Payment and permission should be returned ASAP. No district busses were available and so we are depending on parent volunteers to drive and chaperone. If we don't get enough parent drivers, we will have to cancel the field trip.
We will be walking rain or shine, so remember to come dressed for the weather! Remember too, that the theme of this year's Prowl-a-thon is 'Canada 150,' so be sure to dress in Canada themed clothes (or at least read and white!). Finally, be sure to bring a water bottle and drink lots of water! Family is welcome to join us as this is a community event!
The schedule of the day:
9:45 - Opening ceremonies (assembly)
10:00 or so - Prowl-a-thon Begins
(students outside walking/running the track)
11:15 - RUNCH (break) - Canteen snacks, including Freezies will be for sale!
11:45 - Closing ceremonies (assembly) where fundraising prizes will be handed out by the PAC!
This year the Walter Lee community has chosen two conference dates:
Thursday, Feb. 16th (No conferences on this date for Div. 1)
Thursday, March 9th (Div. 1 conferencing on this date)
Within the next couple of weeks, Ms. Hudson will be sending home a notice requesting your time preferences for our conferences on March 9th. Please return them as soon as possible as times will be given on a first come, first serve basis.
For their PE classes on Monday, Jan. 23rd and Wednesday, Jan. 26th, Div. 1 will be learning circus skills (like juggling and balancing) from Sand Northrup, a circus arts performer. Students should come to school dressed in stretchy clothes and runners.
A reminder that this week we will be doing our Secret Santa gift exchange. Remember that who you are giving to is meant to be VERY secret - tell NO ONE other than the adults who are helping you to purchase your gifts. A reminder that you are to spend no more than $10 and that you must bring a total of three gifts - one for each of the following dates:
Wednesday, Dec. 14th
Thursday, Dec. 15th
Friday, Dec. 16th
Each gift should be wrapped individually, with a tag that clearly labels who the gift is for and has an easy to read clue about the gift giver.
